What makes BELSTA slippers different
Most slippers sold in the US are glued together on a production line and start to flatten, crack, or peel after one winter. BELSTA slippers are built differently. Every pair is cut and stitched by hand in a workshop our family has run since 2006. The upper is sewn — not glued — to a non-slip sole that keeps its shape, which is why we say a pair is built to last four to five seasons, not one.
A few things every pair has in common:
Hand-stitched construction — the upper is sewn to the sole, so there's no glue line to fail.
Non-slip sole — a firm, textured outsole that grips hardwood, tile, and laminate and won't flatten or crack. A few felt-sole styles are made for silent indoor wear.

Open-toe or closed-toe: two ways to wear BELSTA
The open-toe slide is the classic house-slipper silhouette in much of Europe: a wide band over the instep, no back, open at the toe. It's the easiest slipper to step into and out of — no heel to fight, nothing to pull on — and the open toe keeps air moving, so it works in warm homes, in summer, and for anyone who dislikes sweaty feet. The closed-toe models cover the front of the foot and keep warmth in. Most are cut as mules — covered toe, open back, so they still slide on in a second — in Italian wool felt, natural wool, plush velour, terry cloth and plush pile. Materials: what the slippers are made of
The materials are the easiest way to pick a pair.
Embossed velour — soft, warm, and plush underfoot. The open-toe pom-pom slides (Pom-Pom, Noir, Champagne, Midnight) and closed-toe mules like the Plum and Kitty are velour.

How to measure your foot
Place a sheet of paper against a wall and stand on it, heel to the wall.
Mark the tip of your longest toe and measure from the wall to the mark.
Match that length to the Foot length column. Measure in the evening, when feet are at their largest.
Between two sizes? Choose the larger one — slippers should sit comfortably, never snug. Sizes in the chart are foot length, not insole length.
Narrow, medium or wide? Eight women's models are cut on a narrow last and show a Narrow width in the size selector — choose them if slippers usually slip at the heel or feel roomy across the instep. Two felt mules, the Bone and the Puppy, are Wide fit with extra room across the forefoot. Everything else is a standard medium width.
How to care for your slippers
Velour, linen, denim, terry and plush slippers are hand-wash only: cool water, a little mild detergent, a soft brush on the footbed if it needs it, then rinse and air-dry away from direct heat. Felt slippers — and especially the felt-sole styles — should be spot-cleaned with a damp cloth and air-dried, never soaked. Don't put any BELSTA pair in the washing machine or dryer: the heat and tumbling are what break down glued slippers, and there's no reason to test a stitched pair. Velour brushes back up once dry; linen and denim simply soften with wear.
